Goodbye MPI

Over the course of this subject I have learnt how to:

• Use a Macintosh computer
• Use a program to assist in the creation of HTML wepages e.g. iWeb
  
• View RSS files
• Subscribe to RSS files
• Convert RSS files through a site such as http://rss-to-javascript.com/ to be available for a HTML webpages
• use the del.icio.us service to access our bookmarks from any computer that has an internet connection
• use Flickr to share photos with friends and the use of tags when searching photos
• use Blogger to post my expressions as well as use it as an information medium

Although as I am doing the BIT course at CSU and did an IT and Software subjects at high school I have experienced most of this before, but I believe in going over things you have learnt before because you will get a better understanding and keep your knowledge up to date.
This subject has been a great refresher and I can take a few new things away from it, such as I didn't know you could publish posts from google documents to your blogger account as well as converting rss to javascript.

So I'd like to thank Damien for taking this subject, you made it very interesting and simple for the greenhorns.

Sucker Punch

Hi everyone,
Had a great day, missed the bus, walked over willians hill to the south campus, was a nice walk as I walked through the reserve, but surprisingly didn't get lost until I left the reserve. But I eventually found my way to Jen's place where both Jen and Lloyd were fast asleep :P.

After enjoying most of the day something suddenly hit me, like Beth from Bristled Comic

I was pondering what I was doing on the weekend so I could make plans, when I realised that I did have plans this weekend, A friend of mine from highschool had invited me and my yet-to-be-confirmed ex-girlfriend. I mean life goes on and I'm getting over the fact that I might not be with Ash anymore, worse things could happen I just don't want to jinx myself by stating those things here. Anyway I need to decide whether to call my friend and cancel or just say that I will be the only one going? I might try and alter the plans so just a group of us go down to a pub or club then go to someones house to play games, lol that sounds good.

Fun = Time-Warp

Hi everyone,
I've been out having fun with my friends and it's amazing how quickly time flies by when you are having fun! Well I thought I had better post some more onto my blog to keep you all up to date.
I have been hanging out a lot with my friends, Lloyd and Jennifer in particular ( Jen calls me their wobbley / shakey 3rd wheel but i beg to differ I believe that we are like a tricycle, I'm the one out front steering and they are the support, ... if that makes any sense :P Just being stupid ) and have become a familiar face in their dwelling place ( place that they dwell ). We attempted to do some study, the three of us, but Lloyd discovered the joys of Cortex Command. So Lloyd and I played that while Jen did some MPI104 work, then slept I think ( I think I recalled the events pretty well seeming I was concentrating on playing Cortex Command :P.

Anyway I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings,

FTP

FTP allows the transfer of files between computers over a network.

FTP has 3 modes:

1. Active mode
2. passive mode
3. Extended passive mode

The main security issues with FTP is that is transfers files and information unencrypted as it was created before ssl and ssh. This caused problems with user accounts passwords being sniffed by a packet sniffer.

Heavy Stuff!

Hi everyone,
going through an emotional time with my girlfriend, I can't put any specifics up, but It shook both me and her up pretty bad, but we are still friends and are still together for the moment. But we aren't out of the rough patch just yet and I don't know if we will, I just want what's best for her and I wish her well over the next few weeks.

Anyway I went out to lunch with Lloyd, Jen and Jay at the RSL, had $5 of wedges :P and we played pool ( well I attempted :P, it has been a while since I played last and it shows :P ). We liked it so much that we decided to go out for dinner thursday night to catch up with everyone and hav a good time.

Missed the Bus

Hi everyone, I missed the 9:50am bus to CSU today which caused me to miss a lecture. I have not got my licence yet which makes it a pain when I need to go into uni when a bus doesn't run at a suitable time. At least I wont miss the practicals :P

Work = Money

Yay!!! I finally got a decent shift at work today!
For those of you who do not know me, I work at Charles Sturt University on the IT Service Desk, nerdy I know but really good hourly rate, better than packing the shelves at woolies or delivering pizza to an unknowns house for like $13 an hour.
I work 6 hours today and am going to get a good number in my bank account soon! I spent 4 hours on service desk answering phones and helping people fix their internet and with the new SFSF GST refund applications mainly. I also did two hours of ResNet, where I go to student residences on the campus to fix their computers and phones if service desk was unable to fix it over the phone.
I have a great partner that I do ResNet with, but I cannot disclose a name because I have not received permission.

I also lost my wallet, but found it again. The only problem was it was in the service desk office and you need Cardax to get in, and my student card was in my wallet. Lucky enough someone was still on phones and was able to let me in.

So yeah I had a good day!
